I come to this May pondering with a deep awareness of the ‘both/and’ in my life and in human experience. What do I mean? Some examples, I hope, will clarify.
At Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Newton Grove, NC, in the diocese of Raleigh, a group of 16 people—mostly married couples—have been encouraged to get to know, and live more closely, the Redemptorist spirituality and charisma inspired by our founding father, Saint Alfonsus. For the last 10 years—after a 62 year absence—they have taken up following the religious life, missionary work and Christian witness of the Redemption missionaries.
While preparing this year’s booklet, I revisited past editions for inspiration and then came across The Road to Calvary: Daily Meditations for Lent by St. Alphonsus Liguori, the founder of the Redemptorists.

Twice a year, a small group of St. Mary’s High School Saints pile into two minivans, loaded with suitcases full of work clothes and sleeping bags. They journey through the charming streets of Annapolis, cross the majestic Bay Bridge, and travel up the quiet highways of Delaware. As they enter the tangled web of roads surrounding Philadelphia, they catch their first glimpse of the city skyline before crossing the Ben Franklin Bridge into Camden, New Jersey.
On Sunday, March 9, 2025, members of the Mahaut Girl Guides gathered at St. Clement’s House in Belfast, Dominica, to learn the importance of water safety and preservation.
John Barron ("Harry") Harrison, C.Ss.R., a member of the St. Mary's, Annapolis, MD community died at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center, in Towson, MD on Monday, March 31, 2025. He was 84 years old.
How did the idea of a Shrine Passport unfold? This past November, I attended a National Shrine Conference at the Shrine of Our Lady de la Leche in St. Augustine, Florida. I am new in this apostolate and wanted to learn from those who have done this type of ministry for years. I was not disappointed!
The enrolled drum corps, now boasting eighteen young members, boy and girl altar servers, soon caught the attention of the Knights of Columbus, who annually organize the one-mile Independence Day Parade down Fifth Avenue.
